What is the Etsy Craft   Entrepreneurship Program?

Etsy is   an online marketplace where people around the world buy and sell unique   goods. Craft Entrepreneurship is a program that equips people with the   knowledge and skills to start Etsy businesses and earn extra income through   their craft. Using Etsy as a learning lab, accepted students will learn the   basics of starting an online business. Students are guided through the   process of opening their Etsy shop and listing their products by a seasoned,   local Etsy seller. The Kentucky Arts Council is partnering with Etsy to offer   the program in Kentucky.

Who should participate?

Makers of   art and craft who are ready to sell their products should apply to   participate in the program. Since this program is designed for beginners,   students should not have made sales on Etsy before the first class. Students   must have a craft product they make that’s ready to sell. Program   participants must be willing to commit to all classes.

How much does it cost?

The class   is provided free of charge.

What will I take away?

Class   participants will create their own Etsy stores and learn entrepreneurial and   business skills. Each lesson covers a different topic such as marketing,   product photography or basic accounting. The goal of this program is to   provide students with the skills they need to turn their craft into a pathway   to entrepreneurship and earn extra income through the businesses they create.

Sounds great! How do I   apply?

Pre-register   by May 18 by going to http://artscouncil.ky.gov/Opportunities/Forms/EtsyCraftSessionRegister.htm.   After you register, you will receive a link to an online survey. Fill it out   as soon as possible. You should also send two photos of your craft product   and a short paragraph describing your work to Kentucky Arts Council Creative   Industry Manager Emily B. Moses at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
